When our students reach Year 10, they have the opportunity to attend a two week work placement. This academic year this takes place from the 18 – 28 March 2024. In Year 12 they build on this experience in a further one week placement towards the end of the academic year. It is important students find their own placement and upload details on the Link2+ system using the link below.

Work experience provides a great opportunity to widen practical understanding of the world of work, develop self confidence, improve interpersonal and team working skills, relate learning in school to employment, gain an understanding of qualities and qualifications needed for work, make more informed career and employment choices and provide evidence to include in progress records and future applications.

Students need to:

  • Think of somewhere you might like to work; hairdresser, school, office, shop, mechanics, engineers etc.
  • Think about how you would get there everyday for a week.
  • Ask the Employer if they would give you a work experience placement for one week – always be polite!
  • Attend a meeting for students and parents, where the online process will be officially launched by KC WEX Consultants who manage Work Experience for us.
Year 12

Year 12 students complete work experience in July for one week. They are encouraged to look for something connected to their studies and possible future careers. While out on work experience, students complete a journal. This gives them the opportunity to record the skills they have developed, something they can refer to in their personal statements for UCAS applications and also gives them a possible reference for future job applications.

If students have any questions we ask that they speak to Mrs Shelton.

Parents/Carers can contact Mrs Shelton by email.
