When our students reach Year 10, they have the opportunity to attend a two week work placement. This academic year it will take place from the 12-23 May 2025. It is important that students find their own placement and upload details to the Changing Education App. All students will be shown how to do this, however more information and help can be found in their Parent and Student handbook.
Work experience provides a great opportunity to widen practical understanding of the world of work, develop self confidence, improve interpersonal and team working skills, relate learning in school to employment, gain an understanding of qualities and qualifications needed for work, make more informed career and employment choices and provide evidence to include in progress records and future applications.
Students need to:
- Think of somewhere they might like to work; hairdresser, school, office, shop, mechanics, engineers etc.
- Think about how they would get there everyday for a week.
- Ask the Employer if they would give them a work experience placement for one week – and always be polite!
- Upload their details to the Changing Education App, as shown to you by your Form Tutors and Head of Work Experience, Mrs Devanney.
- Email Mrs Devanney if you need any help finding a placement.
This helpful guide for parents, carers and students explains how we coordinate our work experience placements.
Year 12 Work Experience
Year 12 students are required to attend a one-week work experience placement from 7th-11th July 2025. They are encouraged to look for something connected to their studies and possible future careers. While out on work experience, students complete a journal. This gives them the opportunity to record the skills they have developed, something they can refer to in their personal statements for UCAS applications and gives them a possible reference for future job applications.
If students have any questions, we ask that they speak to Mrs Devanney.
Parents/Carers can contact Mrs Devanney by email.
