The Grange School curriculum has been designed to meet the needs of our students and ensure students of all abilities access entitlement to a curriculum that enriches them intellectually, physically, and artistically. In fulfilling our school aims we have five intents which make up WE CAN and defines the essence of our school. W – Well ordered, safe environment E – Enriching curriculum C – Community at the heart of the school A – (Academic) Achievement for all N – New Horizons (linked to pathways, careers)

The music curriculum fits with our whole school aims for students to have an enriching experience. This is because music is a performance art. The joy of music comes from performing, composing and listening to it. It is our intention that Key Stage 3 offers all students the opportunity to play a variety of instruments and learn about compositional techniques and different styles of music through performing and composing using different media. Staff notation and use of technology will also be accessed through performance skills and allow students to develop their cultural understanding of different styles while learning to play keyboard, ukulele, drums, vocals and guitar. All of these skills will also provide a foundation by which all students may access our Key Stage 4 courses.
