Sociology

The Sociology curriculum fits with our whole school aims by giving students the opportunity to study human relationships and social structures, dealing with a variety of topics including family, religion, work, education, sexuality, gender and race. It enables students to ask questions about and develop their knowledge of how society works and how society can address its divisions and inequalities.

The Sociology course is designed to equip students with a strong understanding of the social structures, institutions, and value systems that shape society. The course is designed to develop students’ critical thinking skills and their ability to analyse complex social phenomena from within a sociological lens.

The aim of Sociology at The Grange School is to provide students with a broad foundation that covers key topics and enables them to develop a deep understanding of Sociology.

By the end of the course, students will develop social research skills, and the ability to interpret, present and argue data in a logical and coherent manner. In addition, they will understand how to communicate clearly and critically evaluate arguments and will learn how to challenge and critique existing theories and research findings. They will be well-equipped to pursue further studies in sociology or related fields. Overall, the Sociology A Level course aims to foster intellectual curiosity and instil a love for learning by promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
