Up until this morning I was very much looking forward to the prospect of opening the school on Friday, but since then I have received updated red weather warnings from the MET Office and UK Health Security Agency that makes it especially difficult.
Therefore the school will remain closed on Friday 26th June and reopen on Monday 29th June 2026 at the normal time.
The school buildings have retained a good deal of heat over the past view days, and the temperature is hotter earlier today than yesterday, and is expected to be hotter earlier tomorrow alongside a higher top temperature than today.
My concern and thoughts are always for students and staff who have five lessons in the day, in classrooms of thirty students in hot classrooms. The classrooms are currently considered hot with no one in them, and will only become hotter when students take up their seats.
The forecast next week is for temperatures to drop, and we will continue to give students the opportunity to wear their school uniform or PE kit.
I apologise for the disruption and inconvenience caused, and hope that we can return to normal on Monday.
Many thanks,
Vince Murray
