Year 11 English students enjoyed an unforgettable trip yesterday (Tuesday 21 April) to Aylesbury Waterside Theatre to see Macbeth, brought to life by Dickens Theatre Company.
This bold adaptation of Shakespeare’s bloodiest and most thrilling tragedy featured a unique twist, with the infamous Porter guiding the audience as narrator through a gripping tale of ambition, betrayal and dark magic. With a talented ensemble of just six actors, the production was both powerful and captivating.
The trip was a fantastic success and a truly positive experience for everyone involved. Our students were outstanding throughout the day, representing the school brilliantly with their behaviour, attitude and maturity. They were polite, respectful and fully engaged from start to finish, clearly appreciating the opportunity.
During the performance, their focus and enthusiasm were especially impressive. It was wonderful to see such deep engagement, with some students even mouthing lines along with the actors, demonstrating real confidence and familiarity with the text. Their thoughtful responses and genuine appreciation made the experience even more rewarding.
It was a pleasure to take such a fantastic group out, and they should be very proud of how they conducted themselves. It was clear that the performance really brought our learning in the classroom to life and we are confident this experience has further cemented their knowledge.
A big thank you to Mrs Zehra and Ms Islam for accompanying and supporting the students.
