On the 11 March. Mrs Canvin, Miss Curtis and Miss McCafferty had the pleasure of accompanying some of our young carers to a special event celebrating Young Carers Action Day at the Buckinghamshire Community Wellbeing Hub, Buckinghamshire New University.

The afternoon was full of energy, connection and recognition. Students enjoyed a range of activities and refreshments, and had the chance to meet staff and representatives from charities working across Buckinghamshire. It was a meaningful space for young carers to share what life is like in their caring roles and to speak openly about the support available to them.

Students watched the premiere of the newly developed Young Carers video, showcasing the voices and experiences of young carers across the county. Attendees also explored pledges made by schools, partners and local leaders to support Fair Futures for young carers and many added their own.

We were honoured to meet the Mayor of Aylesbury and she spent time speaking directly with our students. For our young carers, being heard and recognised in this way was incredibly powerful.

This event not only celebrated the invaluable contributions of young carers but also brought together school teams, professionals and community partners to share ideas, build connections and shape lasting change. Ensuring young carers are supported, understood and given every opportunity to thrive remains at the heart of this work.

A huge thank you to Carers Bucks for hosting such a thoughtful and uplifting event and to our amazing young carers, whose resilience, maturity and kindness continue to inspire us every day.
