Since 2001, the Mental Health Foundation has been leading Mental Health Awareness Week – bringing the UK together to focus on getting good mental health. This year, the week takes place from 12 to 18 May 2025 and the theme is ‘community’.
Being part of a safe, positive community is vital for our mental health and wellbeing. We thrive when we have strong connections with other people and supportive communities that remind us, we are not alone. Communities can provide a sense of belonging, safety, support in hard times, and give us a sense purpose. As a community school this message really resonates with us!
Students have had access to a PowerPoint presentation this week produced by Mrs Jackson our school Mental Health Lead. It’s a powerful reminder of all we do in school to support our students with their mental health and outlines where they can find support.
Today (Wednesday) we had a visit from the lovely ladies from the Buckinghamshire School Nursing Team who brought in a wealth of resources and activities over both lunch breaks to share with our students. There was certainly lots of engagement and great questions asked and answered!

Tomorrow (Thursday) our staff have been invited to Wear It Green. This is an initiative we have run for a few years now as we find it sparks really valuable conversations between students and staff about the importance of our mental health and wellbeing. We look forward to sharing some photos with you!
