On Wednesday 1 July, 12 of our students enjoyed an exciting day out with Mr Haycock, visiting the Bucks Highway Alliance’s main Operational Hub at Griffin Lane, Aylesbury.
The visit gave students a fantastic opportunity to see first-hand the vital work the partnership delivers across Buckinghamshire every day. They also heard from a range of employees about the different career pathways available within the highways sector and the skills needed for these roles.
Students took part in a variety of hands-on activities, including learning how road gritters work, exploring the maths and science behind driving and spreading grit, and investigating the strength of different materials. One of the highlights of the day was getting up close to the specialist vehicles and experiencing the equipment used to keep Buckinghamshire’s roads safe.
A huge thank you to everyone at the Bucks Highway Alliance for hosting such an engaging and inspiring visit and for helping our students gain a greater understanding of the exciting careers available in the highways industry.
A special thank you also goes to Mrs Devanney for organising yet another brilliant careers opportunity for our students. Your dedication to providing meaningful experiences that broaden our students’ horizons is greatly appreciated.
