We work closely as a school with Sam McKee, Director of AVYFC who is currently studying a scientific PHD and organising various highly interesting and inspirational STEM careers presentations.

The next event is due to take place ay Aylesbury High School on 24 May 2023 and our students are warmly welcomed to attend.

Sunil “Sunny” Dhillon is a PhD researcher in engineering and robotics who is working to improve durability and structure of Mars Rover wheels. In a marriage of planetary science and engineering, he is using the Curiosity Rover as his basis, and (amongst other things) uses the ostrich foot as a model for how to develop wheels that can improve the longevity and function of the rovers in the Martian environment.

He has doubled up his role with lecturing at the University of Warwick and now conducts further research on behalf of the Natural History Museum in London.

An amazing guy, he also climbs mountains and volunteers with ISSET. Passionate about space and planetary science, he will inspire the students with his incredible research, its phenomenal application, and his breadth of knowledge. He would be delighted to talk about the red planet and what it will mean for humans and machines living and working there.
