We are seeing an increase in students and parents requesting provision passes. As a school we have always supported the use of these for some students with medical needs, special educational needs or other difficulties. We are however becoming more aware that on some occasions they are being used inappropriately or for long periods of time. In order to carefully monitor this, we are now using Satchel One to record when students use their passes. We would like to reassure you that this is purely for monitoring for both staff and parents and carers to see when students are using their cards, how many times a day and in which lesson. We will be using the Behaviour section of Satchel One to record this, but we must stress that their are no behaviour points attached and the recording will not adversely affect your child’s achievement points.
For all students, we have also introduced a ‘Toilet Request’ and ‘Attended The Medical Room’ notification on Satchel One. This notification will also appear on Satchel One under Behaviour but as above, will not have any points attached to it. Teachers will be placing this notification on Satchel One when a student is given permission to leave the classroom to go to the toilet or the medical room. Students are aware that they should be using the toilet during social times, but we are seeing an increase in the number of students requesting to go to the toilet and the medical room throughout the day during multiple lessons.
The introduction of these monitoring tools will continue to allow us to work collaboratively to ensure the safety, well-being and academic progress of all students across the school.
