We are looking for a Parent Governor to join our friendly team. Becoming a parent governor is a rewarding way to make a real difference in your child’s school community. Parent governors bring valuable perspectives, helping to shape decisions on school priorities, student wellbeing, achievement, and future development. It is an opportunity to work alongside staff and school leaders to ensure every student receives the best possible education and support. The role also offers parents the chance to develop new skills, gain insight into how schools operate, and contribute to positive change that benefits all young people. By becoming a parent governor, you can help strengthen the partnership between families and our school, ensuring that every voice is heard and every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Here’s what one of our current Parent Governors has to say about the role:
“Being a Parent Governor is a unique opportunity to see what really happens behind the scenes at school and to have a genuine say in how things are run. You don’t need any special background or job title, just curiosity, common sense and a willingness to ask questions.
It does take time and commitment, but you’ll be well supported and training is provided (mostly online, so it can fit around you). Meetings are usually once a month in school, with dates set well in advance to help with planning.
As a parent of four, life is busy, but this has been a really positive way to do something different, use skills I hadn’t had much opportunity to use since having children, and feel part of something that really matters. If you care about the school and want to make a difference, please consider putting yourself forward.”
If you are interested in becoming a Parent Governor at The Grange, we’d love to hear from you. Please express your interest by completing this form.
