Every year we are allocated a budget through the Government to help address Period Poverty.
Over the course of the next week, during PE lessons, all of the girls in years 7-10 will be receiving a bag containing a couple of sanitary pads with the view that should they need any sanitary products in school that they bring their bags to the First Aid office to be filled. This way it is less embarrassing for the girls and more discreet.
Period products, such as pads and tampons, should be available for all who need them, when they need them, in order to access education. Having periods should not be a barrier to education for any learner. Making our students aware of the scheme is vital to making sure they can access period products when they are needed and to reduce the stigma surrounding periods.
