On Monday 6 July we had the incredible opportunity to welcome Sonia Leong to our school for an unforgettable manga workshop!
Sonia is an award-winning British manga artist, author and illustrator who has spent over 20 years inspiring young people through her artwork, books and workshops. She has illustrated graphic novels, worked with major publishers including Hachette and BBC Books, and her artwork has even featured in The IT Crowd and Doctor Who publications. She is also the author of several popular ‘how to draw manga’ guides.
During the session, Sonia shared her inspiring journey into the world of professional illustration, talking about her career, creative experiences and the challenges she has overcome. She encouraged our students to believe in their talents, embrace their passions and recognise that dedication, resilience and hard work can turn a creative dream into a career.
The highlight of the day was an amazing hands-on manga art masterclass, where our talented (and very star-struck!) students learned expert tips and techniques to create their very own manga characters.
