A fabulous week with our Modern Foreign Languages Department looking at the super creative work our students had done on their Day of the Dead topic for their Spanish Lessons.
Year 7 and 8 pupils designed calaveras (skulls) and alebrijes (Mexican folk art) as follow on work from learning about Day of the dead in Mexico which is the 1st and 2nd of November when they remember their loved ones who have passed on by visiting the cemeteries and taking fllowers, photos, food and playing music. They decorate altars in their houses and it is a big family celebration that is positive rather than negative.
Students learned vocabulary and completed writing tasks in class as well as creative work like decorating the skulls, designing an alebrijes and some even made models.
