A difficult game on a wet surface presented a new challenge for our U18 Boys, who were looking to build on their opening County Cup victory from two weeks ago.
The Grange started brightly, moving the ball well and using the width of the pitch to stretch the opposition, although the conditions made it difficult to maintain possession at times. The first real chance came after a superb cross from Dylan B found the well-timed run of Saami H, whose volley drifted narrowly wide of the post.
The breakthrough came following a tactical change, with Bryce S introduced to bring fresh energy to the side. After an excellent first touch on the edge of the box, Bryce combined with Tye D, who squared the ball across goal for Jacob C to finish calmly and give Grange a deserved 1-0 lead.
The second half saw a much more organised defensive performance, with the boys showing great discipline and determination out of possession. Joe T almost doubled the lead after a brilliant solo run to the byline, but the score remained unchanged. The team stood firm under late pressure from Chesham to secure another clean sheet and all three points.
The result leaves Grange top of the group with 6 goals scored and 0 goals conceded from our opening two County Cup fixtures.
