Preparations are underway in our English Department in the lead up to the fantastic World Book Day!

There will be lots for students to get involved with as we celebrate this wonderful event. We’ll be hosting quizzes and activities in both Form Time and DEAR Time, fun and games in the library and a competition to guess the literary character as our staff come dressed in book inspired costumes! Students who enter will be gifted a World Book Day voucher which they can change for a book on the list at a qualifying retailer entirely free of charge.

During lessons throughout the day, we’ll be doing a whole school reading activity and in English lessons, Key Stage 3 students will be getting creative with a piece of persuasive writing on the theme ‘Be The Change.’ Students can then enter their thought provoking pieces through the fantastic Literacy Trust competition. We’ll be sure to share some of the wonderful examples in our school newsletter, The Grange Gazette and via our social media platforms.

Finally, to do our bit for the planet, save some pennies and of course find some new and exciting reading materials, we’ll be hosting a Book Swap. Students are encouraged to bring a book they’ve read and loved and are happy to donate to exchange for some pre-loved reading inspiration!
