Traditionally work placements have been the sole method of engaging students with employers, but at The Grange School our team love to come up with lots of other creative ways to approach Employer and Community Engagement as an integral part of our Careers strategy.
Throughout the year, we run a series of exciting events including enterprise competitions, mock interviews, mentoring sessions, workplace visits and social enterprise projects. These are all thoughtfully designed to provide numerous opportunities for students to develop the skills needed to excel in an ever changing world and learn first-hand about future careers pathways.
We have observed that our young people respond especially positively to the guidance, support and information provided in relation to jobs and careers if it comes directly from employers themselves. Research also demonstrates that student performance and motivation improves as they gain a deeper understanding of the relevance of education and qualifications to the workplace.
We are always looking to extend our ever growing network of companies, employers and organisations who wish to work with us. Our events require volunteers for a variety of activities, including session facilitators, guest speakers, mentors and exhibitors at our Careers Fair. Engaging with schools is a great opportunity for Corporate Social Responsibility, truly ‘giving back’ to your local community. It’s also a chance to meet our students to build your talent pipeline and increase brand recognition.
